We just got back from a week of summer camp with our 8-12 year olds, and it was a blast! 

From hunting for wild animals like elephants and rhinos during our Safari game to hiking to Tornado Alley, we were busy, busy, busy.  Each day had Bible study and campfires, and lessons about God along the trails and in the cabins.  At one point, they were asked to find something in nature that reminded them of God, and they came up with some great answers.  One child picked a reed and broke it apart to make it look like a cross, to remember that Jesus died for him.  Another picked a beautiful flower and said it reminded her of all of the beauty that God has put in the world.  Still another brought back a small rock and said it reminded her that one of the names for God is our Rock, and that he will always be there for her.  What great reminders for us adults!

If you live in Texas, you have probably had the experience of looking out at the horizon on a summer afternoon and seeing giant thunderheads building. Texas thunderstorms are notorious, and bring a mix of emotions to those whose homes they overtake - some people are scared of them, some people like to sit on the porch (covered, and screened, of course!) to watch them and feel their power, some rejoice in the free water from heaven, and some barely take the time to notice them. At the end of May, there is a thunderstorm brewing to the west of Light of the World, and its headed straight for our children's ministry. It's called Kids Camp. In one week, 220 excited kids from all across north Fort Worth/Saginaw/Keller will invade the church, and have a blast learning about Jesus while they play sports, cook treats, visit princess castles, and more. Kids Camp is the craziest week of our church calendar, and regardless of if you will be here, I hope you will pray for all of the volunteers - that God would sustain them and give them joy in their service; for the kids - that God would show them his love through all of the fun; and for our children's ministry staff - that we would take time in between all of the tasks to rejoice in all that God is doing around us Bring on the rain, and bring on the invasion of kids!
